On this day in 1926 author A.A. Milne had the first book published featuring his enduring fictional character, Winnie-the-Pooh.
And on this day in 1947, flying the experimental Bell-X-1, Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier for the first time.
I am very much looking forward to the upcoming Disney film in which Winnie-the-Pooh, aged 21, breaks the sound barrier in a magical plane made entirely of Pooh Sticks.
Maybe Scholastic'll think about using it as a learning aid.
