A major Boston daily has run tomorrow's Kucinich impeachment action prominently, silence from the rest in this area. But the right-wing does not wait or depend on newspapers to tell them when something is up. They make it their business, and they build their own networks. By the time the congressmen are done fielding the right-wing's phone calls their heads are spinning.
I just called myself and got a snippy little intern who promised she'd transfer me to a person when I asked her how Mike Capuano intended to vote, and she said "that's not public yet." I got a machine. I called back and asked her to take a general message, which she was nice about. I told her I was a constituent and spelled out my name and gave my zip code when she asked, and said "I EXPECT the Congressman to vote to support the impeachment of Dick Cheney tomorrow, and to vote against tabling, or killing, H.Res. 333."
The right-wing is so effective because they lobby EACH OTHER, calling to make sure that, in addition to making their own calls,...
they get at least two other friends, or "subnetworks" to do it. Swamp the lines, tell dad or sis this is the number, this is what you say. These guys work for US, are paid by OUR tax DOLLARS. THEY don't tell YOU what's going to happen, YOU tell THEM. Then follow it up with an email supporting your points for the impeachment of these cruel and heartless men, who will litter the ground with torn Iranian babies if we let them. 7:30 pm my EST, plenty of night to go. I've got 2 other people to check on to make sure they have left their message. Why ain't this in main Kos page?
Even if HR.333 is tabled, which it could well be, the point is to fire the shot across the bow that tells Congress we're on this, and we're not going away. Flash: Another candidate has challenged an anti-impeachment congressman in a primary, Bob Feuer for 1st District Massachusetts against John Olver (includes Amherst.) If your congressman says "we don't want to jeopardize the 2008 election," just tell him "Country before party, congressman. Some things are more important than politics."
