We have so many insightful and powerful diaries written here at Daily Kos. Our diaries inform, inflame, impassion, and even entertain. We Kossacks have strong voices and an even stronger will to be the change we wish to see in this country.
One of the richest, and perhaps most under-appreciated, areas of thought come in the form of comments attached to these diaries.
Here at Top Comments we strive to recognize and promote the talent of this community by highlighting outstanding comments found throughout the day by the diarist, and through nominations at made at topcomments at gmail dot com by your fellow Kossacks. (We welcome your submissions - and remember to leave your user name, for credit!)
These nominations are subjective, and certainly not complete (as no one can read the complete site on a daily basis!). But hopefully they will serve to shine a light where deserved, and to give the reader a good starting point in finding conversation on the site.
Please come in and make yourself at home! Join us beneath the fold...
Tonight, I'm sitting in my usual favorite blogging spot, watching Mr. Asimbagirl work and Asimbagirlette doing her homework and studying for a geography test. It's the first week of early darkness, and even though we're in Southern CA, it's chilly. It's soup and hot chocolate weather.
The cats have each selected their favorite human (which is actually neat, since the Maine Coon likes to hang outside when the weather's cooler), the dog's here hoping that he'll garner treats of some sort.
It's quiet here, and just fitting for an autumn evening.
A little later, Asimbagirlette and I will play a mystery solving game on the computer that we've enjoyed a lot over the past several days.
I'm not entirely sure what it is about autumn nights that makes snuggling with family so comforting and satisfying. Part of it is the early darkness. Part of it is the cooling temperatures. We fold in on ourselves - the windows aren't open 24 hours a day. Like other creatures, this is the season for cocooning.
So, while I'm always a little sad to officially bid summer goodbye when the clocks turn back - I love the outdoors and am greedy with my time in the sunlight - I do so cherish these quiet evenings with those I love best.
I suspect that many of us are off doing other things today - as we should, at least occasionally!
What are you up to this fine fall evening?
Without further ado, here are tonight's Top Comments submissions:

Hilary's gone way beyond double talk... by blue guitar. You may need to read 'parent' comments and/or replies to get the full-impact.
From monkeybiz:
I liked this reminder about the purpose of Veterans Day. It's from se portland and appears in xofferson's diary, "Veterans Day parade excludes veterans." Thank you, se portland!
From sardonyx:
greenskeeper keeps it short and sweet with Go All Out or Get Out in wmtriallawyer's Diary-Title-of-the-Day diary Sen. Harkin, Don't Feed Us BS and Call it Pumpkin Pie.
Dallasdoc asks What did Rudy know and when did he know it? in RenaRF's diary Fmr. Giuliani Police Commish Bernard Kerik Indicted by Federal Grand Jury.
Also from that diary, InsultCommentDog has a simple question for Rudy.
From BeninSC: [Ed: It would appear that we have even MORE proof that great minds think alike - also nominated by Sardonyx)
I always enjoy comments which illuminate 'problems' with opposition candidates. This one, by InsultComicDog, fits the bill!
I also like comments like this. I know it was made by our very own Top Commenteer, sardonyx, but any comment which encourages submissions of quality comments to the Top Comments emailbox so the comments can enjoy a wider audience is a top comment in my book! ;)

TexDem provides a caption for a really adorable photo here
MrHinkyDink gives us this spot on comment and starts a funny thread.
Here are my submissions for top comments. Please add yours in the comments to this diary.
dantyrant starts out a funny thread with this comment from smintheus's diary about the most recent 'terror plot'.
InsultComicDog came up with the perfect presser question for Rudy in RenaRF's diary about Kerik's indictment. (Note: This comment was originally called out by gooderservice.)
From the same diary, gooderservice reminds us of the many layers of slime involved with Republicans in this comment about the relationship between Mukasey and Giulianni.
condoleaser has the perfect description of Rachel Marsden in TheManWithNoPoint's recommended diary.
kredwyn clarifies in response to Turkana and adds a link to one of the cutest pooties I have ever seen! From this great diary....by kredwyn.
From gina's diary regarding the coolest thing ever, Netroots Nation, our very own Bill in Portland Maine previews the location site for us. How he got his landlord to agree to all that work, I'll never know. The man's amazing.
On the topic of Netroots Nation, highacidity has suggested this as part of our official attire. (I really like the subtle tinfoil accents!)
BeninSC brings us tonight's Top Mojo! Please make sure to thank him!
