Karl Rove is in full hissy-fit mode, complaining about the anonymity of bloggers. I personally think this is knee-slappingly hilarious, considering that the current administration is the most secretive of any in recent memory. From who was on the plane with the info on Valerie Plame to who attended the meeting with Dick Cheney to write America's energy policy, we're never allowed to see the names. Rather than laugh at him (or rather than just laugh at him) I'm looking to throw down and make him a deal:
We'll trade you info on bloggers here for info on who is writing for you.
On a strictly volunteer basis, I'm sure we can come up with 100 or so of our 140,000+ members who'd be willing to trade their anonymity for that of someone who has written policies for this nation. I've mentioned the two that are most important to me at the top, but I'm sure their are more. How about attendance at one of Jack Abramoff's meetings in the White House? Or who was in the building for Jeff Gannon's overnight "meetings" in the West Wing? Anyone curious about who was at the meeting when we decided to "fix the facts around the policy"?
I'd be willing to cash in my anonymity such as it is for one of these names. Any one of them.
Now, some people don't think a one-for-one trade would be fair. After all, we're all just private citizens who are working folks rarely breathing the rarefied air of the Washington beltway and corporate boardrooms. On the other hand, you're not paying our salaries and we are actually private citizens.
So, on a volunteer basis, anyone want to step up and sacrifice their anonymity for theirs? Don't post your name, just your willingness to exchange it and the meeting from which you'd like the exchanged name to be drawn.
