I'm trying to develop rhetorical tactics to disarm those whom I find wrong. So far I've been thinking about how their arguments are wrong and how to derail the juggernaut of a couple of the rightwing memes. I also, due to personal beliefs (Quaker influenced) find it hard to resort to just adding labels (that fit) or name calling. I also feel that these people are for the most part just (self?)led down the wrong path. My current thought is that for the Christian conservatives, are hypocritical, but refuse to realize it.
I have an attraction to the Socratic method for discourse, as it is non (or at least not overtly/aggressively) confrontational.
My first question for anyone is:
- Iraq War
- Pre-emptive Strikes
- Ignoring Health Care for poor children
-------(Fill in the blank)--------- and what does Jesus say about that?
My next question would be (simple and specific versions):
Which is more important: Good/Morality or Survival?
Is it more important to fight/kill others or is it more important to behave morally?
