There are no international observers here watching the elections... none from any internationally recognized groups.
Well, at least according to NBC's reporter on the scene, Kerry Sanders.
Yet according to their own story on MSNBC.com:
About 100 electoral observers from 39 countries in Latin America, Europe and the United States were on hand, the electoral council said.
Well, which is it?
More below the fold:
Whether you are a fan or not of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, lying about the election by the MSM is (while not unexpected) unconscionable.
Some of the lying is subtle: "President for Life." How subtle is that? The proposed changes remove term limits, not appoint him "President for Life."
Other lying is more direct. At the link above the fold for the MSNBC story, you can view the NBC Nightly News video called "Will Chavez rule ‘for life’?" Buried in the story is the allegation that there are no election observers, thus making the election illegitimate. Funny... seems to me that 100 observers agreed to by both sides in the election would seem to undercut NBC's assertion and label them as intentional propagandists against the outcome of the election.
I don't know what the other networks did, but I watch NBC because they ordinarily have fairly good coverage. Tonight, I am disappointed.
Check out their coverage and let Brian Williams know what you think at: Nightly@NBC.com . Be sure to reference the reporting by Kerry Sanders on 12/02/2007.
