as many of you know, i'm a Clinton die-hard, and i should be rending my garments and beating my chest about now, but i've come to the conclusion that tonight was ultimately a victory for all of us.
i should be upset now. i was for a while. 10 cookies, a bowl of Doritos w/nacho cheez, 4 or 5 fruit snacks and a slice of pizza dipped in garlic oil later, i'm feeling alright, and i don't think it's a post junkfood high.
the turnout was like, OMG. as a member of gen-Y, i couldn't be happier or prouder that punks like me chose to brave the weather and byzantine procedure to have their voices heard. what makes our turnout even better is the lackluster turnout for the Republicans (Iowa's beginning to look deliciously blue).
the horse race is now picking up speed. although an Edwards-Obama-Clinton lineup would have made for the most spirited competition, the fact that a small fraction of one percent of Americans haven't decided on the nominee for either party yet is heartening (no disrespect to Iowans ;-). ultimately, the horse race will only give the eventual nominee and her or his campaign more experience to face off against whatever ridiculous nominee (and the subsequent sleaze) Republicans manage to projectile vomit at us.
again, my heartfelt congratulations to Obama and his supporters for his win in Iowa. you deserve to celebrate your victory, and i trust you'll do so in a dignified manner.
in short, competition? good. high voter turnout? awesome. game? on.
P.S. keep my baby Bowzer in your thoughts and/or prayers, his greedy ass broke a dew claw trying to steal my friend's stuffed animal.
