I tell you, 30 Rock is the funniest show on TV nowadays. By a mile. However I loved one aspect of tonight's outstandingly well written episode.
The female politician character missed a key vote in congress on a bill to legalize recreation torture of whales. The screenshot was of C-SPAN coverage of debate on the Lott-Specter bill.
I just loved the little throwaway moment that so beautifully sent up the Republican party of today and what it has come to be seen as by America. I think it is small things like that which have to give one a little hope for America - that this view is mainstream enough to be so blatantly put out there on NBC's flagship at least tells one something promising in America's waking up from a long nightmare.
But more importantly - STOP the LOTT-SPECTER bill now! It is just not okay to torture whales for fun. It should only be when it is absolutely necessary as a matter of national security.
Ah... lighten up. This is going to be a long hard year of political drama. Gotta take a moment out of it.
