I have had it with you guys.
I didn't like your candidate.
I hate his vote on the war.
And you NEVER shut up about him. EVER.
Edwards this and EENR that.
In fact.....
Because of you.....
I am taking a second look at him.
Your positive diaries and upbeat outlook, more than anything else, has persuaded me.
So I am looking at his policies and looking beyond his war vote.
I am looking at who he is now.
This all started because I was unhappy with the coverage he was receiving from the MSM.
In fact, until I started looking at it, quite frankly I didn't believe he was being slighted.
I didn't like him, but I didn't want the MSM choosing our candidate, silly me, I thought that the voters should be doing that.
I am one of those true undecided.
I have gone back and forth, up and down, inside and out.
And am still willing to keep an open mind.
So I went looking and suprise!
I found quite a few things we agree on:
increased funding for education, health care, homeland security, and other priorities; funding for a strong national defense; tax fairness.
Eliminate mandatory minimums for non-violent crimes
No on developing more nuclear power in the US
Convert agricultural waste into energy products
Invest in proven programs to reduce teen pregnancy
Relief for working parents via taxes & schools
We need country-of-origin labeling for China trade safety
Strengthen the sanctions on Iran
Target Castro's regime but help people of Cuba
Bring UN, allies and friends to Iraq

Few other things:
Forty-seven million Americans lack insurance and families and businesses are struggling to pay skyrocketing premiums. Edwards has proposed a specific plan for truly universal health care that will take on the insurance and drug companies, cover every man, woman, and child in America, and get better care at lower cost.
Fully Fund Veterans Health Care: The VA has already seen over 200,000 veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. We must do everything we can to properly care for these brave men and women and help them get timely access to care by fully funding veterans' health care. Edwards is committed to providing the funding the VA needs to care for those who have sacrificed for the rest of us. [Washington Post, 10/13/06; DVA, 2007; VFW 2007]
Prevent Another Walter Reed: John Edwards is committed to helping the military medical establishment continue to deliver the best quality medicine in the world by properly funding all aspects of medical care, including maintaining the facilities and expediting boards and dispositions of the injured service members. As president, he will order a stem-to-stern review of military hospitals to ensure that our service members are getting the excellent care they deserve. He will also reject the Bush Administration's ideological drive to outsource federal jobs; a questionable decision to hire contractors to manage Walter Reed facilities contributed to the shocking conditions there. [Mattera, 2007]
Give Military Families a Voice in Family Policies: As president, Edwards will create a Military Families Advisory Board within the Department of Defense to give family members a voice in considering how to adjust family policies -- such as separation allowances, life insurance and savings rules -- based on operational needs.

I have gone back and listened to his speeches.
I watched him in the last debate.
I find myself agreeing with him more and more.
I am still undecided and probably will be for awhile.
But you Edwards supporters can be proud of yourselves!
Your positive candidate diaries, as opposed to the negative ones, are pleasant to read and are informative.
In avoiding some of the others, I was drawn in to yours, mainly because I just enjoy the great attitudes and great people I found there.
And I am probably not the only one.
