You have spent the better part of a year arguing whether the warmonger Hillary, or warmonger Barak, or warmonger Johnnie is better fit to lead this nation. There have been passionate diaries on all sides, full of fun facts and obfuscations regarding who they are, how they've voted, who gives them money and what they ultimately represent.
And yet you still make faithbound leaps from shore to stern as the SS Corporation leaves the bayou.
Do you really think it matters as you splash into that crocodile infested water, desperately praying you aren't riven limb from limb?
Do you even have a clue what is coming? Do you understand what the sub-prime mortgage crisis means? Do you understand how Bill Clinton's repeal of the Glass Steagall Act allowed that to happen? Do you understand peak oil? Do you understand that our entire food supply is currently grown and shipped upon the presumption of cheap fossil fuels? Do you know there are food riots going on in Mexico, China, Kenya and many other places in the world... soon to be coming to a town near you? I'm sure you've all witnessed the price spike in staples the last several years. Don't expect that to be abbated anytime soon. Expect it to get worse.
Do you really think a world economy propped up by a failing empire will somehow iron itself out because the market always prevails? Pony up a self-sustaining energy source and aisles and aisles of slave labor and I might agree...
But that is not reality.
No one, from any party, can fix what is wrong with this world. And no band-aid will stop the bleeding.
What is wrong with this world is us. Our greed. Our delusional drive for comfort. Our hybristic ideal that we are the end.
As we enter the new depression... and, oh, it may be here by the end of February, if the powers that be can't ratchet up enough illusions to stay us for another year or so [like they did with the internet bubble, like they did with the housing bubble, like they did in the intervening times with printing way too much cash]... We should maybe keep in mind that it is the policies of every democrat and republican in government that have brought us so low.
We should rebel against their imperialism. We should rebel against their corporatism. We should rebel against their nationalism. We should rebel against them.
Our interests should be the work of any government... Or at least that is what I thought was the binding idea behind that little revolt in 1776.
