I just received my first robo-call (I live in Florida).  Since I hadn't seen anything up for that yet, I thought I'd put up a place for people to note anything about calls they've gotten:  what they've received and when, who it was for and why (and what was wrong with who it was against), any scurrilous accusations, and whether a candidate sponsored it or not.

My report, over the jump.

Background:  I live in the Florida panhandle.  I'm registered as an Independent (my husband is registered as a Democrat).  I donated to Planned Parenthood last year.  In 2004 we got ridiculous quantities of "Hey, Democrats are evil and your children are in danger" schlock snail mail.  I'm only Independent because the Democrats aren't far enough left.  Someone didn't pay for the high quality filtered voter contact list...

I just received my first robo-call of this election season.  Apparently Mike Huckabee is God's gift to the right-to-life/anti-same-sex-marriage group and the other Republican candidates are evil scum who think that women should be able to get abortions whenever they want and/or gay marriage is just fine.

There was a little blurb at the end about supporting Broward County Right To Life and the message ended with "God Bless You" (no candidate statement so I assume it's not supported by Huckabee).

I've got a co-worker who's getting five or six calls a day, so I was wondering when they were going to get around to me.

And I like chocolate cream pie best.  Not the mousse stuff.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?
Are you sure you want to remove your recommendation? You can only recommend a diary once, so you will not be able to re-recommend it afterwards.
Rescue this diary, and add a note:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from Rescue?
Choose where to republish this diary. The diary will be added to the queue for that group. Publish it from the queue to make it appear.

You must be a member of a group to use this feature.

Add a quick update to your diary without changing the diary itself:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary?
(The diary will be removed from the site and returned to your drafts for further editing.)
(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?

I'm in Wisconsin. NO robo calls. But I am seeing campaign commercial for both Hillary and Obama. I'm not sure if they are targeting Wisconsin or if it's a national bulk buy of campaign commercials.

    •  Got one...had to hang up due to pressing matters (0+ / 0-)

Wednesday I got one from a 'Private Name Private Number'.

The survey 'research' folks are indeed already at it in Wisconsin.  Presumably they're targeting people with a consistent record of voting. I rarely miss.

I kind of assumed it was to be expected by this point.  Maybe they'll get to you soon enough.  Their predictive dialers give up pretty quick and they don't bother indicating anything if you pick up and no one is available in the call center to actually run you through their 'survey'.

I voted in 2000, for MCCain, to try and keep Bush out of the race, I get repub. robo's. I got one from the McCain camp right before the Mi. primary. When I pushed the button to indicate that I would not vote for him, they went on about him being a war hero and suffering for this Country. I hung up before hearing the whole speel.

No robo calls here. But it's probably because I won't vote in the gooper primary. They are the ones who do that crap.

-7.38, -5.23 One day we ALL will know the truth about the 2000 presidential election. God help us all.
