This is more a question to Kossacks: why has the focus on Edwards future revolved around him being Attorney General in a Democratic administration? Partly, the answer to my question may be that's simple the rumor that came out of the Obama camp.
But watching his speech today in New Oreans, and remembering once again the passion he feels for America's poor... it makes me think: why not make this guy Secretary of Health and Human Services?
So much is made of his healthcare plan, and how he was first out of the gate. Who better to have running the department destined to run our new health care system?
Yes, having him as Attorney General, having him fight the vigorous fight against special interests makes some sense... but in Health and Human Services, he'll be not only fighting that fight, but setting the agenda by which those special interests must work with the U.S. government.
Maybe it's just an emotional reaction. But I believe John Edwards when he says this is the cause of this life. And I can think of no better way to further that cause then by running that department.
BUT... many of you are far more knowledgeable than I on these matters, so please, in the comments, let me know why I'm wrong (or right).
EDIT: As other have pointed out, some other option that I wish I put in th poll:
* Labor
* Housing and Urban Development
* a new combined Labor/HUD/HHS department, Homeland Development
* Housing and Urban Development
* Senator again in NC (taking out Dole)
