I have never written a diary before and did not have any plans to do so. However, I received this email tonight and I consider it so important that I decided to put it before the Community here. I don't think there is any issue with copying the full text of the letter since I am sure that THE WORLD CAN'T WAIT Organization would be happy to send the same email to anyone who is interested.
I have removed my email address from the letter as well as the name of the person who sent it. Perhaps this was not necessary but I thought it might be wise. I get my feelings hurt if people send me nasty emails when they don't like what I say, lol.
The Impeachment of George Bush and Dick Cheney came up in the Washington State Legislature and was tabled last year. It is back on the table now and needs all of the support we can give. I am asking that anyone living in the State of Washington consider contacting the people listed in this email to state their views on impeachment. I must add that I believe that impeachment is critical to the defense of our Constitution (as well as all of us who live here.)
If you do not live in the State of Washington, perhaps you can send these people some love and let them know that Americans across the Nation are watching what happens here.
I am sure there are Citizens all over the USA that would like to have impeachment presented for a vote in their own State. It only takes 37 States, I believe, to force the US Congress to deal with impeaching Bush. Wouldn't that be lovely!!!
The letter is as follows:
ACTION ITEM: CONTACT WA STATE LEGISLATURE TO SUPPORT SJM 8016 AND HJM 4027 TO IMPEACH BUSH/CHENEY
From: Drive Out the Bush Regime! (seattle@worldcantwait.org)
Sent: Wed 1/30/08 7:21 PM
Friends, PLEASE TAKE ACTION FOR IMPEACHMENT, and pass this action item along. We need a MASSIVE push to move SJM 8016 and HJM 4027 in the Washington State Legislature by February 8th. SJM 8016 will go to a floor vote by the entire WA State Senate when it passes Rules Committee. PLEASE HELP PUSH SJM 8016 THROUGH THE SENATE RULES COMMITTEE BY CREATING A DELUGE OF CALLS, VISITS AND EMAILS TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE WA STATE SENATE RULES COMMITTEE. Please thank Lisa Brown for her work on domestic partnerships last year and urge her to let our bill move quietly and swiftly forward to the US House.
Also, please thank the five cosponsors of SJM 8016, (marked***) that serve on Rules Committee for co-sponsoring SJM 8016. Urge them to push SJM 8016 all the way through to a floor vote. Each member of the Rules Committee represents all of us, so kindly insist that they take your message, name and address. Ask if the aide knows how the Senator will vote -- and report back to us!

We are asking for Investigations of serious allegations regarding abuses of power in the Office of the executive. This memorial simply asks Congress to do its job. The war in Iraq is robbing us of our tax dollars needed at home for bridges, transportation, ferries, education and health care. According to the National Priorites Project Washington State has already paid out OVER $11 Billion for the Iraq War, and that's only counting official appropriations! It is estimated will pay $3.5 Billion for the Iraq war in Fiscal Year 2008,, just in official appropriations. Elections don't cure abuse of power, only impeachment can insure that future presidents will follow the law. Impeachment is a unifying, non-partisan issue. Protecting the integrity of our laws and system of government benefits all of us. HJM 4027 and SJM 8016 are memorials that " tell history, and the rest of the world, that we do not sanction illegal war, we do not sanction unlawful spying, and we do not sanction torture. This memorial is how you will honor your oath and protect our great country." Thank you for your timely activism!
Highlights are mine as I thought the people highlighted have special power to move things along.
