OK, somebody explain this to me.
Obama held a three-point lead among white voters in the state while Clinton had a twenty-seven point lead among Hispanic voters.

I know that talking about Latino/African-American voting patterns is a potential minefield, and I do not want to set off a "you're a racist scumbag" innuendo-fest, but I'm just struck by this number. A 27-point lead. Why is Hillary Clinton so strongly supported by the Latino community in CA? I'm not saying she should be or she shouldn't be, but why?
Some kind of cultural animus would be an easy answer, but I don't trust it. Somebody on this site (OK, many people) have given examples of strong Latino support for AA candidates. Somebody else pointed out that most of these candidates were running against Republican opponents, the implication being that they were the lesser of two evils.
So that's one theory....I'm sure there is no one theory. But that doesn't mean there's no explanation. Or that there's something wrong with asking: What is it about Hillary Clinton's history or her husband's history or her campaign that explains this strong support? And are there cultural factors?
Please don't tell me that ethnic tensions don't exist. We all know they do. But how strong are they, how generational are they, how situational are they? That's what I'd like to know.
