How about a mini break from Super Tuesday for comments on the Super Bowl? What are your plans and who will win?
Until a few minutes ago, my plans were to join an afternoon nature walk in Bernheim forest just outside of Louisville, KY. With the forecast for sunny skies and temperatures in the low 50s, it looked like a good way to spend the afternoon with friends. But the leader of the group, Bob Hill, had to cancel the walk. Maybe I’ll go for a bike ride in Cherokee Park.
But in the evening, Eastern Time, I’ll be watching the Super Bowl. OK, I might multitask a bit but I’ll have a TV next to my computer monitor.
I went to bed at half time in their previous meeting so I missed the exciting finish. It was a good game but they are not life or death for me. Sheila gets me out of bed at 6:45 and Mondays are my long day, so I was content to read about it the next day.
But I’ll not be going to bed early this time. I don’t care who wins, but I don’t want to miss the commercials! And Sheila is out of town so even if they go into overtime, I can sleep late.
But there is scandal in the air. Not only did the Patriots get caught cheating with illegal spying this year, but now they are accused of cheating five years ago when they defeated the heavily favored St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI.
Does this mean that Patriot Super Bowl wins should have an asterisk next to them?
Patriots? Patriot Act? Illegal spying? Is there a pattern here?
Spying or not, who will win tomorrow?
