Riding the bus in this morning, I noted that I was the ONLY person above the age of 23 (out of about 40 riders). That made me very sad, given that I KNOW a large number of staff and faculty live along the route.
So I want everyone to share how they are reducing their footprint. I'll start below the fold
- I am riding the bus almost every day, or bumming a ride from my wife. We are effectively down to one car (except Saturdays).
- All the lights in my house are now compact fluorescent.
- Laptops are unplugged overnight.
- I have a "smart" thermostat that adjusts the temperature automatically at night and during the day.
- All computers in the house go on standby after 20 minutes of non-use (I know they still pull power, but much less)
I know there is a great deal more I can do and will make attempts starting in the Spring.
So - share your stories and make the other Kossacks proud.
