I came here to add a comment to a diary congratulating Hillary Clinton for winning the majority of delegates last night, not to start my own. But I saw nothing, and rather than insert something on an Obama thread, I'll put up this entry:
I was happy to vote for Hillary Clinton yesterday. Our next president will be faced with IMMEDIATE enormous economic, foreign policy, and military crises. The horrible results of Republican rule - what I had previously called the "conveyor belt of consequences" are now piling up as they fall off the end of the belt.
I believe that Hillary Clinton knows exactly how bad situations are in every area and exactly how tough it is going to be to deal with them. She has no illusions about Republican support.
I don't think Obama comprehends that the next president is NOT going to triumph, NOT going to inspire, NOT going to celebrate. It's going to be a very hard time for us all, as we all will pay the price for 8 years of Bush. The next president will not be beloved, but will have to make unpopular decisions every day of the presidency. What will happen when gasoline goes to $4 or $5/gallon and necessity calls for adding a tax on top of that?
Hillary Clinton has the toughness and rationality to lead this country through one of the hardest stretches of its existence. I am happy she won the majority of delegates last night.
I suppose I will now get flamed out of existence :-) But I don't care. This is a Democratic blog, and Hillary Clinton, still standing, and still more liberal than Obama, facing the absolute same treatment from the media that Al Gore faced, deserves to be congratulated here.
