I am too. So I decided to take a break from it, starting last Friday. I'll probably come back sometime after the primaries or maybe in 2009.
This isn't a GBCW diary - I don't believe in those. I wasn't going to write this diary but it occurs to me that maybe someone else might commiserate with my feelings and would be interested in what I've found.
At the risk of being flamed by Obamabots, in honor of much braver folks than me who have written issue diaries, here's why I'm taking a break and where I'll be visiting for a while.
Last Friday, it was like the tide rose up and washed over me. Just one person too many who I had formerly respected suddenly lost all objectivity and cast logic to the wind.
It reminds me very much of when Colin Powell testified to the UN about weapons of mass destruction. My household was suddenly and sharply divided - I remained against the war; my husband thought Powell had to be telling the truth so he was for it. We agreed to disagree. I had shown him numerous news articles casting doubt on the evidence for war. His feeling was that Powell must have better intelligence than the news. (I had to admit that it could have been true that he did - but I figured that BushCo had lied to him. I've always thought Powell was a pawn rather than a liar - maybe I'm still naive.) But more than that, I thought that my husband had been caught up in the rhetoric, the fervor, the nationalism, the us-or-them quality and had lost his ability to critically analyze what was being said. So for a couple years, we disagreed. After a while it became clear that I had been right so now we are both anti-war.
Right now, I see the Obama hoopla, the messianic language, the attacks and polarization. What's really ironic is that the vitriol is so pervasive from the Obama followers and they are so quick to say 'well the other side does it too!' when actually, the Hillary folk don't trade in us-them crap anywhere near as much. This reminds me of how infotainment news always says Republicans and Democrats are guilty of the same behavior - when only a Republican has just been caught doing some crazy thing. Oh well, some day we can't recall probably a Democrat did something just like it and who cares if they didn't - we'll just say they did and call that fair and balanced.
What I find really ironic is that if Obama is elected president, one year from now all these fervent supporters are going to feel toward Obama exactly like they feel toward Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. Hey, he's not progressive enough - what a traitor! etc. etc. etc.
So that's it - Obama followers have adopted the tactics of infotainment news. For me, that's exit stage left. I now plan to attempt to get my information somewhere other than MSNBC - the Obama network - and somewhere else on the net than places populated and/or overrun by primary zealots.

As my own bit of activism, I've created an ActBlue page to highlight candidates I've researched and admire and I'm going to try to help raise money for them.
Good luck in your efforts to support Democratic candidates, whichever they might be. See you later.
