I do not accept the Senate’s legislation granting amnesty to the Telecommunication companies for breaking the law by spying on US citizens. It goes against the American spirit, the rule of law, the vision of the founding fathers, decency, fairness, morality, ethics and just about everything else you can imagine.
There has been much talk about the spinelessness of the Congressional Democrats for continuously capitulating to the Republicans and failing to accomplish any of the things they were elected to do. This talk is entirely justified because the people we elected to represent us have instead put their efforts into representing the moneyed special interests and power brokers inside the Beltway.
It’s obvious that the people we put into office with our votes, whose salary we pay with our taxes, whose healthcare insurance we pay for even while many of us go without coverage, feel absolutely no obligation or responsibility to us, their employers. Take just one second to really wrap your mind around that concept by imagining how your bosses would act if you failed them as Congress has failed us.
That is why we now need to set the example for Congress by demonstrating our unwillingness to accept yet another piece of Bullshit legislation conceived for the sole purpose of covering the well dressed, affluent asses of their benefactors. We need to pro-actively demonstrate to Congress that their performance is not satisfactory and demand that they correct it.
Also, we need to start at the top by telling both Democratic presidential candidates that they must speak out against Telecom amnesty and warn Congress that this will not stand when one of them takes office. Both Clinton and Obama should start including in their stump speeches warnings to Congress that Americans, Republicans and Democrats, are fed up with a legislative body immersed in cronyism, greed and self-interest that has willingly sold out Constitutional principles.
The following US Senators, employees of the citizens of the United States of America, have failed to meet the minimum acceptable level of performance as elected representatives for the American people. Each one has violated their oath of office by voting to exonerate the Telecom industry for their criminal acts of spying on US citizens.
