As you may have heard, six detainees at Gitmo were finally charged for the 9/11 attacks. As you also may have heard, they’re being tried by "military commission," a rigged Soviet-style show trial, just in time for the 2008 elections.

The six "enemy combatants," including alleged 9/11 Grand Poobah and Ron Jeremy look-alike Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, will be tried before a secret military court that will admit secret evidence obtained through torture, generally violating every basic principle of the human right to a fair trial and dragging our reputation deeper into the swamp of The Bush Legacy.
Why can't these people be tried in the regular legal system, like terrorism suspects used to be? Would it really be that difficult to get a New York jury to convict them, assuming there's evidence?
