I just watched the portion of 60 Minutes that featured Obama and Clinton. They were asked about chances going into Ohio and Texas (with a pretty good overview of Ohio) as well as some issues like the Obama Muslim false story, if Hillary will withdraw from the race if she loses Texas or Ohio, among other things.
It was a 15-minute segment, heavily edited with only 3 questions or so given to both Obama and Clinton. What kind of irritated me was 60 Minutes posting the picture of Obama in African ceremonial garb. That's not needed. It draws it out and actually allows some folks to see that without going into reasons why he wore that. Bill Clinton wore garb like that when he visited nations, as did Hillary, and so many other leaders. I was disappointed to see that.
The interviewer asked Hillary directly about Obama's faith and she said something curious: "I take him at his word." And then as a follow-up, she was asked if Obama was a Muslim she said, "Not that I know about." Hmm.
60 Minutes didn't have to regurgitate this story. It's been covered and put to bed already. Why not focus on differences on issues? Why not ask Hillary outright why she didn't read the NIE (National Intelligence Estimate) before authorizing an attack on Iraq?
Obama appeared in good spirits. Confident but not too confident, and was direct in his answers. Hillary didn't say she would concede if she didn't win big on Tuesday. She even mentioned the month of June as a possible time she could continue until - "like my husband did."
If she doesn't do well on Tuesday, it won't go past March. She will run out of money. Plus Democrats have to start taking on John McCain -- and let Obama rest up for an intense General Election campaign. We have to win in November.
Overall it was a fairly weak piece in my opinion. 60 Minutes could have done better.
