Cokie Roberts, this morning on NPR (rough transcript):
A longer primary season will be bad for the Democrats. Because the candidates will keep talking about Iraq. And voters are not talking about Iraq.
Right. To obtain the White House, Dems should ignore Iraq.
And on a stupid SNL skit this weekend:
It's really made us in the media question the fairness of our reporting on Hillary. Now you see more scrutiny of Obama.
We in the media should take our cues from unfunny Saturday Night Live sketches. Excellent plan.
And then there was this gem from earlier this year:
"oddly enough given the rhetoric, [Obama] not reached across the aisle and worked with people in the other party to get things done, which [Hillary Clinton] has done."
You see, Obama is not nearly so bipartisan as Hillary. And voters like that bpartisan thing. Beacuse we never would have gotten into Iraq without it.
Here she was in 06 (again from memory):
Democrats should be careful about criticizing Bush because they will be seen as "piling on" an already unpopular president
That's worse political advice than Mark Penn has ever given.
So why is Cokie always wrong?
