...dem. blogosphere goes up in smoke...
A diary on the rec list placed prominently in its intro a quote of a statement by Senator Clinton, and also posted a link to a news report (yes Olberman and Maddow) with a video link.
I was surprised when I clicked for the video...that what Keith said was not what was in the quote.
I posted an 'I am confused' comment in that thread...but wanted to use my own alloted diary to bring additional attention to this issue.
Does Clinton whine about press coverage? 'Some people say' she does...but based on the way this story is being treated...wow...she's got an ironclad case.
In this statement Clinton is talking about Presidential campaign strategy...and arguing that she would be the best candidate for the Democratic party.
This would be fairly obvious if the beginning of the statement that Keith read had also been included in the blockquote in the diary introduction....
What Keith read that was omitted:
I think you’ll be able to imagine many things Senator McCain will be able to say..he will put forth his lifetime of experience.
So this was not in fact an endorsement of McCain over Obama...hardly surprising since she has been saying quite regularly that the democratic party will be united in the fall..(has Obama said this also? I am not sure.)
Note: I am not saying the diarist is making a dishonest presentation...what was quoted...was exactly what I heard on the edited video that was on CNN. They pulled out the context...
Seems like an opportunity to misrepresent Clinton...stir the pot...is never missed by the press...I am just surprised that Keith jumped in after reading the statement out loud.
