Quick and to the point, I'd love for people's comments on this - what I think - is a little odd about Ohio. I live in Cleveland, went to the polls with my family. We saw no one voting for Clinton. We saw no signs for Clinton. Our neighborhood is 60/40 White working class. But let's get to the point. MSNBC released some interesting exit polls, which would lead me to think Obama would win..
Of all democratic ballots cast in the primary,
68% Registered Democrats
22% Independents
10% Republican
Now, that somewhat stunned me. One out of three voters were not democrats! Obama traditionally wins this group 2:1. With that said, of the 68% Registered Democrats, 20% are African-American, a group Obama wins 9:1. That leaves roughly 50% of all democratic ballots cast to Whites. Exit polls show Clinton won Whites 60/40. Even if we give her 2/3 of all White democrats and give Obama 90% of Black democrats, Obama would win by 7-9 pts. Now, if Republicans and Independents voted more for Clinton, then okay - this won't hold up. But I doubt that'd happen. So, I'm a little concerned with the numbers coming in because they don't fit trends and I wonder what is the driving force behind that. The economy is bad here, but everyone I've spoken to blames Clinton/NAFTA not Obama.
p.s.
I just say something VERY disturbing on MSNBC while writing this. They released another exit poll that skews what I was just saying for Clinton.
When asked if race mattered to voters, 1/5 (20%) said yes.
Of those 1/5 (20% !!), 80% of them voted for Clinton!
WTF is going on here in Ohio? Is it time to move back to Florida?
