Mon Dieu!
It seems like Hillary can't catch a break around here.
Apparently everyone is agreed that she is CONSPIRING WITH JOHN MCCAIN, that SHE MUST DROP OUT IMMEDIATELY, that SHE IS ATTACKING OBAMA UNFAIRLY.
Give me a break!
This is a race in the Democratic party for the nomination!
That means you are supposed to try to get more votes than the other chap.
Hillary is only down 10%. There are still plenty of states. There are superdelegates. There are Florida and Michigan which may still be revoted. So there is still plenty of opportunity !
Those who say the numbers make it impossible for Hillary: that's not quite true. If the numbers made it impossible, then Barack could go home and take a nap. The fact that everyone is so up in arms about Hillary continuing is because she does pose a threat to Barack.
Absolutely she can attack the other candidate. She can identify areas of his possible weakness and emphasize her strengths in these areas. Has Hillary distorted Barack's record? Has she attacked him personally? I don't think so.
I'll just cite 4 examples. That on 60 Minutes she said he wasn't a Muslim in her knowledge. That her campaign made his skin darker. That she said he would invade Pakistan. . That she used the red-phone ad. Well, the first two are just kind of ridiculous, not even clear you can attribute the darker skin ad to her, or if the Muslim comment was really an insult. You can be sure there will be plenty of that in the general election. And the next two are actually legitimate differences.
If Barack feels her statements are inaccurate, he can correct them. Let the voters decide. If Barack can't handle that, wait till the general election. It doesn't get any easier.
Those who object that she is helping McCain, that she should drop out- well this is the Democratic primary, and Hillary is trying vigorously to win. I don't see anywhere in the rules where it says you should give up. If the Democrats want to re-write the rules to say you have to give up when you are 10% down, or that states should be winner-take-all, let them do so. But until then I respect Hillary for running an all-out campaign and not giving up !
As Barack would say: Yes we can!
