It is in the interest of the Democratic Party to get all the votes counted.
The votes from Michigan and Florida for the Democratic Presidential Nomination ought to, and probably will, be counted.
At this point in time, they probably will have to be Re-Counted
And somebody's going to have to pay for them.
The cost is going to be $20 to $25 million for each state.
Total cost: $50 million; add another $10 million for extras, for a total of $60 million. (P.S. I may be way off the mark as to the actual cost).
The Democratic Party will end up footing the bill, less amounts paid for by the Obama and Clinton campaigns. The campaigns should pledge a minimum of $5 million each, and up to the total cost (at least a maximum amount agreed to by the experts).
Howard Dean should put up a Bat. Or maybe two bats. One for each of the candidates (the money to go into the same fund). Now that would allow the people to put their money where their mouth is.
Having the DNC run a national fundraisng specific for this purpose may warm up a whole lot of party members to contributing to the national party.
A goal of raising $50 million could be accomplished by 2 million $25 contributions.
I could imagine more than 2 million contributors for this specific purpose. Any excess would be used for the general election. 10 million $25 contributions is $250,000,000.
Not to mention the Publicity that would be earned by the DNC.
Hah!
