The Clintons have been spinning the "Dream Team" concept quite a bit over the last few weeks. Vote for Clinton and you'll get Obama too.
Quite a few people have noticed that this contradicts their arguments of just a few weeks ago, but it makes sense. The Clintons - and many of their supporters - have moved on to stage 3.
Yes it's a cliche to talk about the 5 stages of grief:
Denial
Anger
Bargaining
Depression
Acceptance
but in this case, it's pretty obvious that's what's happening.
Denial was the explanation that the states Obama was winning didn't count. They were red states or they were caucus states or we thought he was going to win them anyway.
Anger? We all saw that before Wisconsin and OH/TX. "Shame on you Barack Obama!" Can we trust him to protect our children? He forgot to credit some lines in a speech! (Aside: is it me or does the plagiarism flare up feel like it happened a year ago?)
Finally we're moving on beyond that; I suppose after the delegate gain was so narrow and Wyoming was lost, there was no other plan. Vote for us and we'll let Obama be the Veep! Doesn't that seem fair? Come on. Work with us here.
This is promising. If this is what is going on, then hopefully the anger will be toned down. Depression (around the time of North Carolina) will be sad to see, but perhaps, just perhaps, we'll see acceptance in June.
I know it's fun to assume the worst about people, but this has been a dream for Clinton and February couldn't have been the happiest month for her. Let's see if she is adjusting before assuming that she won't. And let's try to go a little easy on their supporters. Yes, refute bad logic, but remember that Clinton means as much to them as Obama does to us and cut them a little slack. We'll need them in November after all.
