... and the ijit squad at FOX News is already testing the boundaries of stupidity - race obsessed lunatics like Tom Sullivan are stoking fears of a race war. It's either a cynical grab at ratings or genuine ignorance. If you're reading this, you probably don't need to be enlightened, but you can follow me past the fold for a brief reality check.
I usually try to reserve these diaries (you know, all... um... one of them), for deep meditations on matters of national import, sometimes, people just say stupid, stupid stuff in public. Ah, wingnut stupidity just never, ever ends:
Let me put it to you a different way. What if Barack Obama is not -- does not win the Democratic nomination, or he does win it, and loses in the presidential race against John McCain? Is black America going to throw their hands up and say, 'Man, you know, I thought we were getting somewhere in this country, but this is just a bunch of racial bigots in this country and they still hate blacks and, I mean, if Barack Obama can't get elected, then we're never gonna have anybody that's a black that's gonna be elected president.' And will there be riots in the streets? I think the answer to that is yes and yes.
I won't bother venting about how a minister can get a clip of him saying really stupid things played on a frickin' loop while people like Tom Sullivan spew insanity on the half hour and get paid for it.
Maybe he makes a point. With all the smears Obama's been getting hit with so far and will have to endure all the way to November, most people will probably forget that he's black, or that there are people that don't like him because of his race, or that there are even people who don't like black people in general. It could be a shock for him to lose - if people were suddenly reminded of these things, the results could be a disaster!
After all, who can forget the historic California Primary riots earlier this year, when enraged Obama supporters (black of course, every single one of them) nearly burned down Los Angeles? To say nothing of the scene in Texas - I shudder to think what could have happened if Senator Clinton was airlifted out even a few minutes later. If it hadn't been for those black Obama voters stopping their savagery long enough to uh... win the caucus, who knows what could have been destroyed.
And what if they'd waited on the MSM to tell them who'd actually won the state? They'd still be rioting.
(Don't worry, they don't know caucuses don't count yet. Whew!)
"Black America" (Man, I love that phrase) is gonna throw their hands up and burn stuff nationwide because of election results? What country does Tom Sullivan live in? Blacks - no, America period - haven't been getting their way around here for a long time. Nobody threw their hands up and decided to riot after the Supreme Court handed the election to President Bush. Nobody threw their hands up and started burning things after Kerry got swiftboated. Nobody threw their hands up and turned over SUV's now that almost 4,000 Americans have died in Iraq. With a few exceptions, that's not in the black character, the progressive character, the American character. Obama's candidacy has been a unique event for a lot of people, and it's something we'll tell our kids about no matter what happens from here on out. But if he doesn't win, FOX is gonna see America do what it's always done: put our heads down and work harder for the country we want to see.
Besides, if you're really going to worry about death and destruction as result of an election:
Just sayin'.
