DK user TravelerBill has written two great diaries about Stephen Colbert's Pennsylvania Straw Poll, Democralypse Now.
For those of you who didn't see it:
To clarify for those who were unaware of this, on Wednesday Stephen Colbert, in conjunction with cause, announced he is conducting a Pennsylvania Primary Straw poll. You support your candidate by making a tax deductible donation to a school project in Pennsylvania. The candidate who raised the most (in comparison to Colbert's $66K in his failed SC Primary bid) shall be declared the winner
With a goal of $66,000 per candidate, Obama's supporters took the lead early, and is holding steady at over $31,000 raised in since yesterday afternoon. Clinton's supporters are trailing at $10,400.
That's more that $41,000 total raised in less than 2 days. This means a great deal to those kids in PA, whose classrooms are using the money for books, A/V equipment - you know, all those tings a responsible government would be paying for. which is still a big deal to the PA schoolkids that will get the money).
The primary fight has gotten ugly, and that has become reflected somewhat here on DailyKos. But let's not forget who is going to suffer if we remain divided and angry: the Democratic Party, the Constitution, and these schoolchildren with no books.
So, let's settle our differences and give money to a worthy cause. Show your support for your candidate and "vote" in the straw poll. Donate $5 or $10 (or more, if you can) in the name of Clinton or Obama, and let's see if we can't settle our differences in a constructive way.
