...on ActBlue!
After hearing about the attack on Indiana congressional candidate and longtime kossack Barry Welsh and a reporter by a local GOP official, I decided we should do something to recognize Barry for (literally) fighting for our rights.
So I wrote a quick ActBlue page, and I hope you'll chip in $5 to show your support for a Democrat we can count on to go to the mattresses for us in Washington.
As you've probably heard, on April 9th, while taking a stand for Indiana residents who had registered to vote but were denied their rights by a lazy elections board, Barry Welsh witnessed a local reporter being physically attacked by a GOP operative and, in trying to pull the Republican assailant off the reporter, took a punch to his eye.
The attacker, a voter registration deputy and secretary of the local Republican Party, was arrested and faces charges of battery (see this article for more details).
In honor of Barry Welsh fighting for Indiana’s voters, and taking five fingers on the chin (well, eye), let’s hit him with another 5: $5 as a way of saying "thank you" to a candidate who knows how to, um, roll with the punches (sorry, I can't keep the puns from coming, no matter how hard I try).
So hit Barry with 5, and let him know that the people need someone willing to fight for them in Congress!
You can learn more about Barry Welsh and his campaign for Congress at his website
(I should note that I have no official connection to the Welsh campaign whatsoever, and am doing this simply as a way to thank a great candidate who took a hit for standing up to Republican disenfranchisement in Indiana.)
