(Hopefully this is an appropriate open thread topic)
I'm not sure how many people watched this documentary on MSNBC tonight. It was about a young black man named David Wilson who became interested in his heritage after discovering he was only three generations removed from slavery. He decided to track down descendants of his family's former slave master. When he found his former slave master's great great (great?) grandson it happened that his name was David Wilson also.
The documentary followed David Wilson (#1) as he met with people learning about his history, and ultimately met with the decendant of his family's former slave master (David Wilson #2). At times it was uncomforable and awkward, which is understandable. I also felt like both David Wilsons were a little too aware of the camera so there was some lack of authenticity. Otherwise it was a really interesting documentary.
It is reairing right now on MSNBC (as of 9:00 pm - 10:30 pm PDT).
