I'd been wondering why Senator Obama chose the word "bitter" in his remarks. I've just heard from an unreliable source that Obama chose to use "bitter" as a pander to Jewish voters.
See, Passover (or, as John McCain would say, Jewish Easter) is starting just days before the Pennsylvania primary, and the Jewish vote is likely to be key to winning the Pennsylvania suburbs, which is a must for Senator Obama.
On Passover, the youngest (that would be Senator Obama, since he's seen as so young and gets all the youth vote) asks four questions.
One of those questions is "Why is it that on all other nights we eat all kinds of herbs, but on this night we eat only bitter herbs?"
We know Obama's got the herb covered with the choom gang, and now he's got the bitter covered as well.
Phase 2 of the pander will begin soon:
Look for him to begin to reveal that Lisa Schiffren's story claiming Obama's mother was Jewish is fully true.
Her rationale? All interracial marriages at the time were between a Jewish woman and a highly educated black man who met via the Communist party.
It turns out that Schiffren is correct. Ann Dunham's real name was Chana Donovich
For those who claim that's impossible, I will note that Kansas had plenty of Jews in those days; Arlen Specter, Ron Wyden and Dan Glickman were all born in Kansas.
And besides, she looks Jewish (or does she? You be the judge).
