46 contests have come and gone in this Democratic Presidential Preference cycle. Only 8 states and 2 territories remain. And yet, per Politico.com, there are 248 uncommitted superdelegates - that's about 1/3rd of the total possible.
What are they waiting for? Are they leaders or are they cowards?
If your state has already voted in this year's preference contest - look up your state on Politico.com and find out who is still uncommitted and tell them to "Sh*t or get off the pot!"
This week on CNN's "The Situation Room" DNC Chair Howard Dean called upon superdelegates to start making their choices known. He went on to say that the party cannot afford waiting in limbo for 2 or 3 more months and then help the party heal. The longer we wait - the harder it will be for the party to recover.
I completely agree! Now, before people start whining "Let the process play itself out, what's wrong with that?" I'm not asking for the process to be short-sheeted. The last time we had the decision actually go to the National Convention was in 1980 - we all know what happened that year. Before that, it was 1968 - we all know what happened that year, too.
In March, NBC talked to a couple of Missouri superdelegates that were uncommitted - Maria Chappelle-Nadal and Leila Medley. "At the time, both said they were dismayed that the race was getting more contentious the longer it went. And they both hoped Democratic voters would decide the nominee, not superdelegates such as themselves." (MSNBC First Read)
Almost three weeks later and they are still on the fence and still worried that unless there is an end soon, it will hurt Democrats' chances in November.
Guess what, you two? You are LEADERS not FOLLOWERS - start acting that way! Honestly, I don't care which candidate you endorse, anymore. Just get off the pot and endorse.
The voters in your state went to the polls over two months ago. The voters were able to make a decision then, why can't you now? Didn't you vote in the Missouri Primary? Who the hell did you vote for? Whomever it was, come out and endorse that candidate. (You did vote, didn't you???)
If you are a superdelegate who's state/territory hasn't voted yet - I can understand your hesitance - wait for the people in your state to vote.
But if you live in a state that has already held their preference election - you have already voted - you know who you are going to endorse, you are the reason why this has become a pissing match. If you are endorsing Clinton - that's your choice and you would be breathing life into a campaign that is needing it and your endorsement would give it more fundraising strength and less of a reason to go negative. If you are endorsing Obama - that's your choice and you would be pushing Obama closer to that 2024 benchmark and helping Clinton make a decision to withdraw.
Whichever candidate you are going to endorse. JUST DO IT, already. You voted in your state's election for the candidate you believed in - now just come out and say you are a superdelegate for that candidate. That's not so tough!
If you are a superdelegate and your state has held it's election and you don't come out soon - you aren't a leader ... you are a coward. And if you hold elected office and are up for reelection ... perhaps your constituents should consider voting for someone else this November. If they can't trust you to make a decision around the same time they had to - what kind of discernment do you really have on the future of our country?
SHIT OR GET OFF THE POT
