Before they devour themselves once more, perhaps the Democrats will take a cue from Dr. Seuss’s "Marvin K. Mooney Will You Please Go Now!" (The writer once mischievously redid it for his friend Art Buchwald as "Richard M. Nixon Will You Please Go Now!") They could sing:
"The time has come. The time has come. The time is now. Just go. ... I don’t care how. You can go by foot. You can go by cow. Hillary R. Clinton, will you please go now! You can go on skates. You can go on skis. ... You can go in an old blue shoe.
Just go, go, GO!"
So opines MoDowd in today's NYT. More after the fold...
If I had the recording and mixing abilities of JedReport I could make a 'Hillary R. Clinton Will You Please Go Now!' because I think we need the sort of lighthearted but determined approach to helping the Democratic party leaders, superdelegates, and elder statesman to help push matters to a seemly, early conclusion once Indiana and North Carolina vote on May 6.
Pennsylvania was not a disappointment in terms of Obama's performance - he narrowed the gap in perilous territory, and latest congressional district counts in the TM (Traditional Media) are now reporting Clinton's actual delegate gain was 9. Nine delegates. For nearly two months of frantic campaigning and millions in donated campaign money, that is all she got. And that is probably the best result she will see for the remainder of this campaign. I nearly laughed aloud.
This diary is not an exhortation to donate - we have a number of diaries where donors are encouraging one another to continue supporting Obama, and his fundraising is robust. Of course, volunteers are always needed. I am moving to Chicago in ten days and unfortunately, will not be arriving soon enough to slip over the border to help the last minute get-out-the-vote, but when I get settled in I will give what I can financially and in terms of moral support.
No, this diary is to give encouragement and give a place to vent for those of you who are being driven to distraction by the spinmachines of the 24 hour cycle of TV commentators, with an explanation and some encouragement: the TM have finally caught on that Obama has won it on points, and now it is a tongue-biting exercise in endurance until the remaining primaries and superdelegates have their say. Remember, this primary season, to the TM television news anchors, is the ultimate reality show. They are most likely getting far bigger election-year bonuses for all the specials and interviews they are doing, bumped up budgets to go travelling around the country and getting interviews, on the Show That Will Not End: The Democratic Primary. It's their job - they are getting paid a lot to do it.
That being said, do not be discouraged that just because they are repeating the ever-sillier narratives of the Clinton campaign that an unconstitutional primary election in Michigan magically bloats her popular vote count or that the electoral college has been convened early for Her Highness: it is all over but the crying.
And is there anyone in the audience who can put together a video of 'Hillary Clinton 'Will You Please Go Now'?
please?
