Great speech ...
Great speech just now from Sen. Clinton broadcast live on CNN. The subject of the speech was economic issues, specifically regarding energy costs and the costs of food items.
Sen. Clinton says she wants to:
- Make oil and gas companies pay the gas tax for the summer
- Restore regulation of energy trading markets, so that consumers don't pay the cost of speculation and market manipulation by commodities traders
- Take on OPEC ... She wants to drag OPEC member countries in front of the World Trade Organization and make them play fair in the world marketplace
Great speech, great points. I think that she is coming out swinging and roundly addressing concerns that average Americans have about the economy, especially about the decreasing spending power of the dollar. She is taking on John McCain and showing that a Democratic contender cares for the Everyman.
The sad thing is ...
Hillary Clinton will not be our candidate.
Our candidate is the guy who continues to speak to -- not everyday Americans -- but to the four Brookings Institution economists who lauded him last week for saying no to economic relief where the gas tax is concerned.
Barack -- are you listening?!
We are going to get creamed unless you step up to the plate right now and seize control of the dialog, when it comes to addressing the economic concerns of everyday Americans.
I don't care how you do it.
But ... do it!
Become the candidate who will intervene on behalf of everyday folks. Be the guy who's going to save people's homes. Be the guy who's going to stop their grocery bill from going up. Be the guy who's going to do everything in his power to make sure that Americans have access to the energy they need to get to work, prepare food in their kitchens and warm their homes.
Ya don't have to lie.
We know it's "hard."
But you have to show intent and commitment when it comes to helping people out.
Because John McCain and your distractor-in-chief, Hillary Clinton, are doing just that.
