Driving to the Obama for America headquarters in Durham NC yesterday, I could not help but notice the juxtaposition of these banners for both Hillary and Obama. Kinda sums it up for what happened here on primary election day.
Durham County voted 75.1% to Hillary's 23.5% with a voter turnout of over 50% of registered voters in the county.
Is it just a coincidence that Hillary's banner is crumpled and barely hanging on whilst Obama's banner has weathered the storm of the primary process?
After wading out into traffic to take this picture to share with you, I traversed up the slope to remove the banners. After all, we are saying goodbye to the remaining Obama staffers to places like West Virginia, Kentucky, Nevada, and "yet to be determined."
"Goodbye for now" anyway.
We will be reusing the Obama banner for the general election; Hillary's banner was recycled. Please know that in the aftermath of the primary election process - every single supporter of Hillary that I have come into contact with has expressed support for Obama in the general election.
This campaign feels so different from previous campaigns in NC. We are organized. We are united. We are ready.
Note - I hope this picture loads ok. This is the first time attempting to load a picture and only my third diary on DKos.
Here's links to the other two entries if you have the time and inclination to read.
