Obama has received 6 Superdelegate endorsments in the last 24 hours.
They are:
Ed Espinoza - DNC member California
Vernon Watkins - DNC member California
Peter DeFazio - Oregon
John Gage - DNC member Maryland
Donald Payne - New Jersey
Wilber Lee Jeffcoat - the Democratic Party Vice Chair in South Carolina
Congresswoman Mazie Hirono - Hawaii
More to come?
ANOTHER UPDATE: Laura Weahkee, the add-on delegate from New Mexico, is backing Barack Obama.
The latest endorsements Obama received were from two DNC members - both from California - Vernon Watkins and Ed Espinoza.
UPDATE: This is from DemConWatch.blogspot.com:
He kept it a really good secret but today Ed Espinoza (aka Mr. Super) endorsed Barack Obama. We tried many times to pry the information out of him but not even kryptonite would make him tell.
I will be updating this thread as developments warrant.
Obama, who won a convincing victory in the North Carolina primary and lost Indiana narrowly on Tuesday, has been steadily gaining strength in the days since.
Clinton also gained a superdelegate.
The developments left the former first lady with 271.5 superdelegates, to 268 for Obama. Little more than four months ago, on the eve of the primary season, she held a lead of 169-63.
In addition to Payne, Rep. Peter DeFazio of Oregon and two members of the Democratic National Committee from California announced they were supporting Obama.
"The election is over, everybody knows that. Obama has won," said Vernon Watkins, one of the two.

UPDATE: I like the way Ed Espinoza thinks. He is, by the way, "Mr. Super" the longtime undeclared superdelegate who created a website called mrsuper.org. He has this to say about current general election polling:
A note about general election match-ups: they don't matter at this point. It was a sigh of relief last night to see David Gergen on CNN talking about general election polling in June of 1992 when Bill Clinton was running third in general and it looked like Ross Perot was about to be America's first President and CEO. John Kerry was leading Bush II, even Michael Dukakis had a 17-point lead over Bush Sr. at one point. The point is that polls for any election don't mean much when nearly six months out.

UPDATE: Obama leads Clinton in Rasmussen's tracking polling 50 - 42. Gallup shows him with just a two-point lead.
