I don't see it in diaries. But lordy, how I see it in comments.
Blame blame blame. Boomers get the smack down for stupid punditry, moron Presidents, and the entire sorry state the country is in now.
It's all the Boomer's fault.
I've also seen people claiming different generations.. Oh, I'm X, or Y, or even Generation Jones.
Get a grip, folks.
We are, each of us, more than a demographic cohort, okay?
To the Flipmobile!
It should be obvious to anyone who went to high school that just being born around the same time does not confer group status upon the resulting batch.
I mean, talk about something you have no control over!
Speaking of things we have no control over, I was born a Hoosier. It's quite the variegated state in terms of output. The state can boast Dan Quayle AND Kurt Vonnegut. John Mellencamp AND Michael Jackson. David Letterman AND David Lee Roth. Orville Redenbacher AND Alfred Kinsey.
My point?
Boomer bashing makes no sense.
There are greatness, madness, idiocy, and evil everywhere. It's not the year you were born in, or the state you're from, or your family name, or any of the other things people grab at.
It's you.
For instance, I used to be called a Boomer. Now that it's been discovered, I'm Generation Jones.
Big deal.
It's just another way of slicing and dicing us. And I'm tired of it.
So, no matter who you are, cut out the Boomer bashing, okay? The Boomers bashed a lot of things about their previous generation; the racist hatred, the oppressive societal norms, the indifference to conservation and the disregard of humanity.
Some of them tried to do something about it.
There were failures. There were successes.
That is all.
When (I hope) I'm ancient and rocking on a porch somewhere, I'll know how ya'll did.
What do I expect? A mixed bag, that's what.
Because we're all people. Not just consumer clumps.
