I've seen every Special Comment thus far. I've seen him repeatedly push the edge of the envelope. Tonight, he burst right through it.
I've never seen a TV commentator, even on cable, totally eviscerate an incumbent prez and everything he stands for like that before. I've never seen someone drive a stake through a tissue of lies like that before. I've never seen that kind of passion and that kind of verve before.
Daniel Schorr was aggressive enough during Watergate to earn a place on Nixon's Enemies List. At this point, I'm a little worried that KO could end up on a different kind of list w/ this WH. I'm glad that he visited the construction site at Citi Field today, and I'm glad he wore his hardhat. If he went out there w/o a hardhat tomorrow--accidents DO happen on construction sites.
The photo of W playing golf 2 months after he allegedly quit was the final nail in the coffin. Yes, it's utterly absurd that he could equate that sacrifice w/ those of the troops, and it's equally absurd that the idea to quit wasn't even his own. Seeing him still playing, in 10/03, however, raises the ethical bankrupcty on a new level.
While the Edwards endorsement is really big news, this Comment is still, by far, the most newsworthy event of this cycle.
UPDATE: I'm a little curious as to why KO is the only one in the MSM who appears to have noticed thus far that W, um, brazenly lied about putting down his clubs. Yes, we know that W treats the truth about as casually as he treats the Constitution. Usually, however, there isn't objective evidence proving the lie well beyond all reasonable doubt. A media that recycled Obama's "bitter" comment for weeks might want to point out this blatant falsehood.
