President Bush has been so unfairly criticized for failing to support the troops he sent to occupy Iraq. Recent revelations of his sacrifice for the troops should illicit apologies and shut up these critics.
For years critics harped that Bush took more vacations than any President in history yet never found time to attend one funeral of our fallen warriors. But it did not stop there. Returning soldiers themselves embarrassed our Commander-in-Chief with petty criticisms about long delays, inadequate care, roach and rat infested rooms, and cutbacks in Veterans Health Services.
Finally, the real truth has come out. Without fanfare, Bush gave up golf in support of our troops. While Bush has played golf once or twice since taking his no-golf pledge, it is the thought that counts. More important, Bush’s no-golf pledge sends a clear message to the terrorists.
I’m asking that everyone to get behind President Bush on this. No golf until all our soldiers are back from Iraq. No playing golf or even watching it on TV. For the Louisville tourist trade I pray our soldiers will come back before September 16th when the Ryder Cup is scheduled at the Valhalla Golf Club.
You can support President Bush or you can support the terrorists. No golf until our soldiers come home!
