The Republicans are not trying to secure the Jewish vote in the states of Florida or New York by being super duper pro-Israel and just aching to totally obliberate seventy million Iranians into fine radioactive glass.
This is a wink and nudge over to the hoards of American Evangelical Christians that have been attracted to the language of hope and promise of Senator Barack Obama.
There is a Biblical interpretation that is held today by many conservatives placing emphasis on prophecy of the end times having to do with Israel.

There is a belief among some that the return of the Jews to the Holy Land, and the establishment of Israel, is in accordance with prophecy.
They believe that this is a prerequisite for the Second Coming of Jesus.
They actively support the Jewish state but also the idea that the Jews, themselves, ought to convert to Christianity. I don't understand that logic. It does not compute. Maybe, that is just me.
Since the destruction of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem in 70 AD, religious Jews have prayed that God will allow for its rebuilding.
The problem is that you cannot rebuild it without disturbing the Dome of the Rock - one of the most important sites of Islam.
In short, these people (some very influentual in Republican circles) want to neutralize the Islamic objection to rebuilding the Temple of Jeruslem so that Jesus Christ returns.
They want a Middle East thermonuclear war, if needed, destroying everything in the Middle East to allow them to prepare for the End.
I guess you cannot have an omelet without breaking some eggs.
Maybe I am way off base and I am not reading the right cues but does anyone else hear this dog whistle?
