Don't blame or credit me, but recently selected add-on DC Clinton Delegate Councilman Jack Evans is switching to Barack Obama. Here is my source, (also confirmed by another source)http://washingtoncitypaper.com/blogs/citydesk/2008/05/17/jack-throws-support-to-obama/
As most here know, Obama garnered over 75% of the vote in Washington, DC on the primary on Feb. 12 and swept every precinct in the city. Since Feb. 12 Obama's support in DC has, if anything, grown. Evans is a survivor of DC politics and this move shows all that he intends to survive for years to come. He is a great resource for Washington, DC and is very well respected. Evans is also a partner in Patton Boggs, the biggest lobbying firm in the known universe.
We can debate the merits of pledged delegates switching but this is just another drip in the Obama flood. Pledged delegates would not be switching if this was still a race. It's over and the sooner we get started with unity, the better. Thank you Jack Evans. On a personal level, I appreciate that Evans has not held it against Obama that earlier in the Campaign we discovered a rules issue that delivered a delegate seat he had been counting on to the Obama Campaign -- a fine delegate, Councilman Kwame Brown. It was business, not personal.
Way to go Jack, the voters of DC know that you respect them and are looking out for the future with Barack Obama!
