The Electoral College sucks. No football team, no basketball team, no big time sports at all.
The social scene is worse. No greeks. No indies. Nothing to do in town.
The available course selection is awful. One major. PoliSci.
Unfortunately, it's the only college every American president has to successfully complete.
Of course, a candidate graduates from the Electoral College to the presidency by winning a majority of electoral votes, which are awarded (with a few exceptions) state by state on a winner take all basis.

You get no points for doing "better than any other Democrat" in states you lose. And, you better not lose states your party counts on.
I can understand why the Utah or other red state democratic parties want a nominee who will goose up their vote totals (it must hurt to chair a state party stuck below 40%). But, getting 42 or 43 or 45% in November in Utah or other red states gets you no closer to the White House.
The Electoral College system is stupid and undemocratic. But, until we change it (and why haven't Pelosi and Reid proposed that constitutional amendment?), it needs to be part of our calculus.
UPDATE - I hope those voting to keep the Electoral College will express their reasons why in the comments - - I frankly can't think of any.
