Oprah Winfrey recently interviewed a Harvard professor and brain researcher who experienced and observed her own stroke, from the inside out. As a result of this experience, and the spiritual awakening that went along with it, the good doctor came to understand the brain (and human experience itself) in a completely new way.
If you feel so moved, take a short break from politics and see what she has to say. If you're anything like me, you'll be glad you did.
A couple of weeks ago, I posted this diary which contains a link to a talk given by Jill Bolte Taylor, Ph.D., a Harvard-educated brain researcher, discussing the experience of her own stroke (from the inside out). It's an amazing and wonderful lecture, and was hopefully a nice change of pace from the Obama-Clinton discussions then raging, for those who took the time to watch.
This morning, a good friend sent a link to Dr. Taylor being interviewed by Oprah Winfrey. There was something even more amazing, for me, in this interview because it opened up the spiritual path I've been traveling by coming at spirituality from a scientific angle.
At one point, I found myself sitting there, just crying and crying. My spiritual teacher, one of the world's great Sufi Masters, tells us this is what happens when our hearts open to that which is behind the reality we understand through our senses.
I know this might sound like a bunch of gobbledegook. However, if you watch the video, I promise it will be, at the very least, thought provoking. And if the great mystery is smiling upon you today, it just might lead you toward deeper spiritual insights.
