I come to DailyKos in large part because I want to be part of the Reality Based Community.
Now, there is a recommended diary up right now, with over 400 comments, claiming that in Clinton's speech tonight she vowed to carry on until the Convention in August. Now, if this were true, it would be truly gigantic (and very discouraging) news. Surely, it would be the lead story of the night. Oddly, though, none of the major news organization have picked up on this.
Media conspiracy? No. She didn't say it.
Here is what she actually said:
"I'm going to make [my case] until we have a nominee, but we're not going to have one today, and we're not going to have one tomorrow, and we're not going to have one the next day"
So, she is promising to stay in the race for at least 3 days. From her other remarks, it is clear that she intends to stay in the race until Obama gets to a majority of all delegates, not just pledged delegates. This is too bad, but it isn't news, this has been clear for awhile now. Also, she is going to wait for the May 31 decision on MI and FL, which will probably adjust the "number of delegates needed" by a bit, although not as much as she wants. Even if the MI and FL delegates are seated as she wants, it won't make much difference in the timing.
Bottom line: she said nothing tonight that is inconsistent with the predictions of her own staff that "we will have a nominee by June 15."
So, hang in there and, please, try not to cause unnecessary panic.
