(From the diaries -- kos)
She's at it again. The Clinton campaign's favorite loose cannon, Geraldine Ferraro, had a talk with her buddies at Fox News and complains that part of Hillary's problem is those black columnists.
Geraldine Ferraro spoke to Shepard Smith earlier today on Fox News and claimed that media coverage of Hillary Clinton has been unfair and sexist.
"All the surrogates that they had out there, from the black journalists — you know, have you read Bob Herbert recently in the past six months? There wasn't one column that had anything decent to say about Hillary."
What's also hobbling Hillary, she said, was sexism at CNN and a desire not to be seen as racist.
After Ferraro mentioned contacting CNN about its coverage, Smith asked if she considered the network "in the tank" for Obama.
Ferraro didn't agree but gave her own critique.
"I'm saying that they're looking at this race, and they've got a goal," Ferraro said. "They have a goal. They never wanted to be accused of racism, but it's perfectly OK to be accused of sexism. That's a problem."
Not that there is any sexism at Fox News. Oh no, not the Financial reporter that puts on the tightest sweater she can find before arriving to work. Not those blonde anchors sitting next to old men like Chris Wallace and Britt Hume. Not at all.
If I can put that aside for a moment, I think Ferraro is trapped in the NYC racial politics that blur party affiliations. The same politics that led to African Americans supporting Mike Bloomberg for Mayor over Mark Green (whom an old friend in the Bronx referred to as "racist bitch"). These same tensions derailed Ed Koch, another staunch Hillary supporter. In other words, Geraldine Ferraro is one part Gloria Steinham, but one part Archie Bunker, and she will never get past it.
