Yesterday, McCain completely reversed his position on the leading global warming bill in Congress - the Boxer-Leiberman-Warner bill due for a vote in June.
In a press conference late Wednesday afternoon, McCain said he did not support the bill sponsored by two of his closest allies, Sens. Joseph I. Lieberman (I-Conn.) and John Warner (R-Va.) because it doesn't offer enough aid to the nuclear industry, and he would not come to the floor to vote on it.
WOW!!!
McCain has changed positions on global warming so many times that he cannot be believed at all.
This now brings the list up to at least seven positions that indicate he is not at all serious about global warming. Here are the six others:
- Decrease Gas Taxes to increase Gasoline Consumption
- Supports Voluntary rather than Mandatory Emission Controls
- Supports Construction of New Coal Plants
- Will Appoint Supreme Court Justices like Roberts and Alito who have already voted against EPA's ability to regulate global warming pollution
- Supports Eliminating CAFE Standards if Carbon Regulations Start
- Will Wait for China and India to start Action in the U.S.
So there you have it.
The maverick is now the mutterer - and appears to emulate George W. Bush and Dick Cheney more with every passing week of the campaign.
