Yes, and please also buy Rove's book when it comes out, and Cheney's
and Rumsfield's, and Rice's, and while you're add it, why not donate
money directly to the George W. Bush personal financial revocable
trust!
I'm sorry, maybe this has been blogged about already, and maybe I've
just been burned by bush too many times to not be cynical, but I think
something is not right in this entire McClellan book turnaround
picture.
What set of conditions do you think would be more likely to make his
book sell well at this point (while Bush is still in office and
extremely unpopular anyway)? If he writes about how great and
wonderful bush is, his sales will be very small and he won't get on
the talk show circuit, and won't make any money.
On the other hand, if he writes and says what he says now, he gets all
the liberals to buy his book and he essentially is getting us to fund
his personal fortune.
My guess is that he checked out all of these things before hand with
bush/rove/cheney since they wanted to let him make some money off the
liberals. Each item in the book was scrutinized and then given the ok.
And each ok'd item would be something relatively harmless that
rove/cheney/bush can easily deny, say things like "That's not the
scotty we know" and get off utterly and entirely unscathed. By
harmless, I don't mean that it isn't condemning but something that is
not really going to affect their lives in any meaningful way (either a
loss of power, or money). Note that McClellan is not presenting any
hard evidence about anything, he is just giving a personal
account (as far as I know, I won't buy or read the book). Note also that he is publishing this book now, long enough
before the Nov election so that everyone will forget about the book by
then, but also long enough before the Nov election so that liberals
will want to buy the book, and of course not after the Nov election
when bush will be less relevant (thus decreasing sales). Thus the
book comes out now, and we (the liberals) go out and buy the book,
make McClellan rich. Do you really think given all the absolutely
rediculous utter nonsensical lies that have come out of McClellan's
mouth over the past few years (see eg. the Scotty Show), that he's suddenly become a truth teller? Come on!
Therefore, please don't buy his book!!! You'll just be putting money
into his pocket and he'll be laughing at us all the more!!
