This is a short one, but oh well.
As a Washington area resident, I've been dismayed over the years by the steady decline of journalism at the Washington Post. Particularly depressing has been the inexorable rightward slide of the editorial pages. Now my favorite section of the newspaper is frequently entirely unreadable. Still, from force of habit I make the effort to try and read the paper.
Today, the Washington Post Editorial board presumed to talk about network neutrality. There's nobody on that board who even understands the issue. Their commentary is laughable. They seem to believe that ISPs granted millions in federal dollars AND monopolies in local areas deserve to manage "their" networks. They ignore the massive taxpayer contribution to those networks, the broken promises of those ISPs regarding broadband penetration, and the informal promise to maintain network neutrality.
This issue is very dear to my heart, because without network neutrality, sites like DailyKos will not exist. If bastards like Fred Hiatt are allowed to set the terms, the internet will be another corporate-controlled media.
My entire life has been spent living with the mistakes boomers make with technology. Now the fucking boomers are going to destroy my livelihood and the most powerful communications tool ever developed. Could the boomers please sit down and shut up? Nothing you've touched in the last 40 years has gone well.
Go let Fred Hiatt and Co. know what you think about their ignorance and arrogance:
