So John "InsaneInTheMembrane" McCain is dogging Obama about going to Iraq. If he isn't running for a Bush 3rd term, I find it odd because like Mr. Bush, he must not read the paper. Reported today, June 4, 2008:
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A suicide bomber killed at least 13 people in an attack on a senior police officer in Baghdad on Wednesday and gunmen shot dead three U.S. soldiers in northern Iraq, officials said.
The U.S. military said separately that at least 10 decaying bodies had been found in a sewer shaft in east Baghdad, apparently victims of sectarian violence about two years ago.
U.S. and Iraqi officials have been highlighting an improvement in security in Iraq that has led to sharp drops in violence and in attacks on U.S. soldiers five years after the U.S.-led invasion to topple Saddam Hussein.
But U.S. commanders have stressed that security improvements are fragile and reversible.
The suicide bomber drove a truck towards the house of police Brigadier-General Nadhim Taeih, in northern Baghdad, killing at least 13 people and wounding 52, police said.
One more time if you missed the "highlights". Three more US soldiers killed, another 13 people in Baghdad. Security that is fragile. Maybe it's just me, but this doesn't sound like
"We Are Now Succeeding In Iraq". The report continues:
An old woman who was wounded in the blast told Reuters Television a number of houses had been destroyed in the blast.
"It was catastrophic ... I don't know what we did to deserve this. Is it a punishment from God?" she asked, at al Kindi hospital in Baghdad.
I wish it were. We could all say it was all a result of an omnipresent being which no one could describe for it's reasoning. But we can't. It's becuase of right-wing neocons who want to "fight the terrorist there so they don't come here". It's morally corrupt officials who send soldiers out over and over again, physically and mentally wounded with no remorse to fight where they would never do themselves, like toys in a sandbox till they break.
So Mr. Mc Cain, if you'd like to go back to Iraq, please do. But if you do, see it through the eyes of the Iraqis. No Kevlar, no entourage, no gunships overhead, no preset security measures. Go with all speed. And if not, with all due respect, please shut up.
